Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 slices American cheese
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
4 hamburger buns
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
Instructions
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns.
Grill patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. During the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Meanwhile, in a separate skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
Toast hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden.
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish to make the sauce.
Spread sauce on both halves of each bun. Place a cheese-topped patty on the bottom bun, top with caramelized onions, and close with the top bun.
Tips
For extra flavor, add sliced pickles or lettuce.
Leftover patties can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
