Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
4 sesame seed hamburger buns
4 slices American cheese
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
4 dill pickle slices
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tsp white vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat grill or cast-iron skillet to high heat.
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns. Season generously with salt and pepper.
Grill patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Toast the buns cut-side down on the grill for about 30 seconds.
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder to make the sauce.
Assemble burgers: spread sauce on both bun halves. On the bottom bun, place lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, then the patty with cheese. Close with top bun.
Serve immediately with fries or onion rings.
Tips
For a flame-grilled flavor, cook on a gas grill with the lid closed.
Let patties rest for 2 minutes after cooking to retain juices.
Store leftover sauce in the fridge for up to a week.
