Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for serving)
- 1/2 cup maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, oil, and vanilla extract; mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little oil.
- Pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto the center of the hot waffle iron and close the lid. Cook until golden brown and crisp, about 3-5 minutes.
- Repeat with remaining batter.
- Serve each waffle immediately topped with 1 tablespoon of butter and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.
Tips
- For extra crispiness, keep cooked waffles on a wire rack in a warm oven (200°F) while making the rest.
- Leftover waffles can be frozen and reheated in a toaster.
