Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat eggs, then add milk, melted butter, and vanilla; whisk until combined.
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined (batter may be slightly lumpy).
Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little butter. Pour about 1/2 cup batter onto the center of the iron and close the lid. Cook until golden brown and crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.
While waffles cook, make whipped cream: In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
Serve waffles immediately topped with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the waffle batter.
Leftover waffles can be frozen and reheated in a toaster.
If berries are tart, sprinkle with a little sugar before serving.
