Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, tzatziki sauce
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, feta cheese, chopped spinach, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
Heat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet.
Cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
During the last minute of cooking, toast the buns on the grill or in the skillet.
Assemble burgers: place patties on buns and add desired toppings. Serve immediately.
Tips
For extra moisture, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or grated zucchini to the mixture.
These burgers can be cooked on an outdoor grill, stovetop griddle, or in the oven at 400°F for 15-18 minutes.
Leftover patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
