Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 slices red onion (optional)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into 3/4-inch-thick patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 375°F). Lightly oil the grates.
Grill patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Avoid pressing down on patties.
During the last minute of grilling, place buns cut-side down on the grill to toast lightly.
Assemble burgers: place lettuce, tomato, and onion on bottom bun, top with patty, then cover with top bun.
Tips
For extra moisture, add 1 tablespoon olive oil or grated zucchini to the turkey mixture.
Serve with your favorite condiments like ketchup, mustard, or mayo.
Leftover cooked patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
