Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (110°F)
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil, plus more for the pan
1/2 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Your favorite toppings (e.g., pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers)
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until a dough forms.
Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Generously coat a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or cake pan with olive oil.
Press dough into the pan, stretching to edges. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes.
Spread pizza sauce over dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Add cheese and toppings.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
Tips
For extra crispy crust, preheat the pan in the oven before adding the dough.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven.
You can substitute whole wheat flour for half the all-purpose flour for a healthier crust.
