Ingredients
2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 large egg, beaten
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until just tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.
Grate the potatoes using the large holes of a box grater into a large bowl. Add flour, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined.
Shape the mixture into small cylinders, about 1 inch long and 3/4 inch thick. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the tots in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot.
Tips
For extra crispy tots, refrigerate the shaped tots for 30 minutes before frying.
Serve with ketchup, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Leftover tots can be reheated in an air fryer or oven at 400°F for 5-7 minutes.
