- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

- Add tomato sauce and water. Stir to combine, bring to a simmer, and cook for 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately in warm tortillas with your favorite toppings.
Tips
- For a spicier version, add 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper or a diced jalapeño with the onion.
- Leftover taco meat can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Use this meat for taco salads, quesadillas, or stuffed peppers.
