Ingredients
1 batch pizza dough (homemade or store-bought, about 1 lb)
8 sticks mozzarella string cheese (or 8 oz mozzarella cut into sticks)
1/2 cup pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Optional toppings: pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat.
Divide dough into two equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch each portion into a 12-inch circle.
Place string cheese sticks around the edge of the dough, about 1/2 inch from the edge. Fold the edge of the dough over the cheese and press to seal, creating a stuffed crust.
Transfer the pizza to a lightly floured pizza peel or inverted baking sheet. Spread half the sauce over the dough, leaving the crust bare.
Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan, then add desired toppings. Brush the crust with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano.
Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-18 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
Repeat with the second pizza. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
Leftover pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 10 minutes.
If using a baking sheet, place it in the oven while preheating to get a crispier bottom crust.
