Ingredients
- 1 lb broccoli florets (about 4 cups)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, water, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add broccoli and blanch for 1 minute. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking. Pat dry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until shimmering. Add garlic and stir-fry for 15 seconds until fragrant.
- Add broccoli and stir-fry for 1 minute until bright green and heated through.
- Give the sauce a quick stir, then pour it over the broccoli. Toss constantly for 30-60 seconds until the sauce thickens and coats the broccoli.
- Remove from heat, drizzle with sesame oil if using, and serve immediately.
Tips
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of white pepper or a splash of Shaoxing wine.
- Blanching the broccoli beforehand ensures it stays bright green and crisp.
- Serve as a side with steamed rice and your favorite protein.
