Ingredients
- 4 medium carrots (about 300g), peeled and sliced
- 2 medium apples (about 300g), peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Place a steamer basket in a pot with 1 inch of water. Bring to a boil.
- Add the sliced carrots and chopped apples to the steamer basket. Cover and steam for 12-15 minutes until very tender.
- Transfer the steamed carrots and apples to a blender or food processor. Add the water and optional butter and cinnamon.
- Blend until smooth, scraping down sides as needed. Adjust consistency with additional water if desired.
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Tips
- For baby food, omit butter and cinnamon, and ensure puree is very smooth.
- This puree can be frozen in ice cube trays for easy portioning.
