Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon amchur (dry mango powder)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a small pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds; cook until they start to pop, about 30 seconds.
- Reduce heat to low and add asafoetida, turmeric, red chili powder, amchur, salt, and black salt. Stir for 10 seconds until fragrant.
- Remove from heat and pour over freshly popped popcorn. Toss well to coat.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired and serve immediately.
Tips
- Adjust red chili powder to taste for more or less heat.
- This topping can also be used on roasted nuts or vegetables.
