Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
12 slider buns, split and toasted
12 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until the beef is browned and vegetables are tender, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 10-15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the bottom halves of the slider buns on a baking sheet. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over the buns. Top with cheese slices if desired, then cover with the top buns.
Bake for 5-7 minutes until the buns are warm and cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
Tips
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken.
To make ahead, prepare the Sloppy Joe mixture and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat before assembling sliders.
Serve with pickles and potato chips for a classic pairing.
