Ingredients
- 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine, such as Tempranillo or Garnacha
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (e.g., Triple Sec)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, or to taste
- 1 orange, sliced into rounds
- 1 lemon, sliced into rounds
- 1 lime, sliced into rounds
- 1 apple, cored and diced
- 1 cup sparkling water or lemon-lime soda, chilled
Instructions
- In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Add the orange, lemon, lime slices, and diced apple. Stir gently.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow flavors to meld.
- Just before serving, add the sparkling water or soda and stir gently.
- Serve over ice in wine glasses, making sure to include some fruit in each glass.
Tips
- For a sweeter sangria, add more sugar or use a fruitier wine.
- You can substitute the brandy with rum or omit it for a lighter version.
- Sangria is best made a day ahead to let the fruit infuse the wine.
