Ingredients
1 sleeve (about 35 crackers) Ritz crackers
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place Ritz crackers in a resealable plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin into coarse crumbs (some larger pieces are fine).
In a medium bowl, combine crushed crackers, melted butter, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir until evenly coated.
Spread mixture evenly on prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden and fragrant. Let cool completely before using as a topping.
Sprinkle over casserole before baking, or store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Tips
For extra flavor, add 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese with the butter.
If using as a topping for a casserole that bakes longer than 20 minutes, add the topping halfway through baking to prevent burning.
This topping can be made ahead and stored in the freezer for up to 3 months; thaw before using.
