Ingredients
1 batch pizza dough (homemade or store-bought, about 1 lb)
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
4 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced
8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) or as high as it goes, with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside.
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add mushrooms and garlic, season with salt and pepper. Cook until mushrooms are golden and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
Divide dough into two balls. On a floured surface, stretch or roll each into a 12-inch round.
Place one dough round on a floured pizza peel or parchment paper. Spread half the tomato sauce, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle half the mozzarella, then top with half the mushrooms and half the prosciutto.
Slide pizza onto preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly, 10-12 minutes.
Repeat with remaining dough and toppings. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve hot.
Tips
For a crispier crust, preheat the baking sheet or stone for at least 30 minutes.
If using a pizza peel, dust with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
Prosciutto can be added after baking for a less cooked, more delicate flavor.
