Ingredients
1 cup warm water (110°F)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until a dough forms.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Punch down dough and divide into 16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope.
Place ropes on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 20 minutes.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and Parmesan cheese. Brush over warm breadsticks.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried oregano or parsley to the butter mixture.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes to restore crispness.
