Ingredients
- 1 ciabatta roll or other crusty Italian bread, split
- 3-4 slices prosciutto
- 2 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 2-3 fresh basil leaves
- 1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a panini press or a heavy skillet over medium heat.
- Drizzle the cut sides of the bread with olive oil.
- Layer the prosciutto, mozzarella, and basil on the bottom half of the bread. Season with salt and pepper.
- Close the sandwich with the top half.
- Place the panino in the press or skillet. If using a skillet, place another heavy pan on top to press down.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Slice in half and serve immediately.
