Ingredients
1 (1-inch thick) fully cooked ham steak (about 1.5 lbs)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
Pat ham steak dry with paper towels. Score the fat edge in a few places to prevent curling.
In a small bowl, whisk together pineapple juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, vinegar, cloves, and pepper.
Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add ham steak and cook until browned, about 3 minutes per side.
Pour pineapple mixture over ham. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes, turning once halfway.
Transfer ham to a platter. If desired, whisk cornstarch slurry into pan juices and simmer until thickened, about 1 minute. Spoon glaze over ham before serving.
Tips
For a thicker glaze, use the cornstarch slurry.
Leftover ham and glaze can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
Serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables to soak up the glaze.
