Heat olive oil in a tagine or heavy pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and spices; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add meat and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in squash, chickpeas, tomatoes, broth, apricots, and raisins. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours until meat is tender and flavors meld.
Adjust seasoning. Serve hot, garnished with cilantro and almonds.
