Ingredients
1 lime, halved
Coarse salt (such as kosher or sea salt)
Chili powder (optional, for rim)
Ice cubes
1/2 cup tomato juice or Clamato juice
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (from about 1/2 lime)
2 dashes hot sauce (such as Tabasco or Valentina)
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch black pepper
1 (12-ounce) bottle Mexican lager beer (such as Corona or Modelo), chilled
Instructions
Run the cut side of one lime half around the rim of a chilled pint glass. Dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt (mixed with chili powder if desired) to coat.
Fill the glass with ice cubes.
Add tomato juice, fresh lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Stir gently to combine.
Slowly pour the beer into the glass, tilting to minimize foam. Stir once more gently.
Garnish with the remaining lime half on the rim or squeeze into the drink. Serve immediately.
Tips
For a spicier michelada, add a splash of pickle juice or a slice of jalapeño.
Use a chilled glass to keep the drink cold longer.
If you prefer a saltier rim, dip the glass in lime juice then salt before adding ice.
