Ingredients
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, ketchup, honey, brown sugar, vegetable oil, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and white pepper until sugar is dissolved.
Place chicken pieces in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour marinade over chicken, turning to coat evenly.
Cover or seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
Remove chicken from marinade and cook as desired. Discard remaining marinade.
Tips
For extra sticky sweet and sour sauce, reserve a portion of the marinade before adding chicken, then simmer in a saucepan until thickened to use as a glaze.
This marinade works well with boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces.
