- 100 g granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 100 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml whole milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon butter, for greasing
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Butter a 9-inch pie dish or quiche dish.
- Spread the pitted cherries evenly in the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, and vanilla until pale and frothy.
- Sift in flour and salt, then gradually whisk in milk until smooth batter forms.
- Pour the batter over the cherries.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Tips
- If using frozen cherries, do not thaw them first; add directly to the dish.
- For a richer flavor, substitute half the milk with heavy cream.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat gently before serving.
