Ingredients
1 cup dried hibiscus flowers (karkadé)
4 cups water
1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
Juice of 1 lemon (optional)
Instructions
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
Add the dried hibiscus flowers and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and strain the liquid into a pitcher, discarding the flowers.
Stir in sugar until dissolved. Add lemon juice if desired.
Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice.

Adjust sugar to your preference; traditional karkadé is quite sweet.
