Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
4 slices American cheese
8 slices bacon
4 hamburger buns
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook bacon until crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
In a small bowl, mix ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar to make the sauce.
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into thin patties, slightly larger than the buns. Season with salt and pepper.
Cook patties on the grill or skillet for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. During the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Toast buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
Assemble burgers: spread sauce on both halves of each bun. Place lettuce, tomato, a cheese-topped patty, and 2 slices of bacon on each bottom bun. Cover with top bun.
Serve immediately.
Tips
For extra flavor, add pickles or onion slices.
Adjust sauce ingredients to taste; add hot sauce for a kick.
Store leftover sauce in the fridge for up to a week.
