Ingredients
2 oz silver tequila
1 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau or Triple Sec)
1/4 oz agave syrup (or simple syrup)
2 thin slices fresh jalapeño (seeds removed for less heat)
Ice cubes
Kosher salt or chili salt for rim (optional)
Lime wheel and jalapeño slice for garnish
Instructions
If salting the rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass, then dip in salt. Set aside.
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the jalapeño slices with the lime juice and agave syrup to release flavor.
Add tequila, orange liqueur, and a handful of ice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
Strain into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
Garnish with a lime wheel and a thin slice of jalapeño.
Tips
For a milder heat, remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeño before muddling.
To make a pitcher, multiply ingredients by 8 and stir in a pitcher instead of shaking.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup.
