Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- 8 black tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf tea)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (optional, or to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda (optional, for smoothness)
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat.
- Add tea bags (or loose tea in a tea infuser) and sugar (if using) and baking soda (if using). Stir to dissolve sugar.
- Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Do not oversteep to avoid bitterness.
- Remove tea bags (or strain out loose tea). Pour concentrate into a pitcher.
- Add remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir. Refrigerate until chilled.
- To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour concentrate over ice. Adjust strength by adding more water or ice if desired.
Tips
- For a stronger concentrate, use 10 tea bags and reduce steeping to 8 minutes.
- Store concentrate in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Add lemon slices or fresh mint for extra flavor.
