Ingredients
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon milk or water
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/4 cup diced cooked ham
1/4 cup shredded cheese (such as Gruyère, cheddar, or Swiss)
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Heat butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until melted and foamy.
Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and let it set for about 30 seconds without stirring.
Using a spatula, gently push the cooked edges toward the center, tilting the pan to allow uncooked egg to flow to the edges. Repeat until the omelet is mostly set but still slightly runny on top.
Sprinkle ham and cheese evenly over one half of the omelet.
Fold the other half over the filling using a spatula. Cook for another 30 seconds, then slide onto a plate.
Serve immediately.
Tips
For a fluffier omelet, add a pinch of baking powder to the eggs.
Use a non-stick pan for easiest release.
Customize with other fillings like mushrooms, onions, or bell peppers.
