Ingredients
2 cups water
2 tablespoons green tea leaves (or 4 tea bags)
1/4 cup honey or sugar
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
2 cups mixed fresh fruit (e.g., sliced peaches, pears, plums, or berries)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Remove from heat, add green tea leaves, and steep for 3 minutes. Strain tea into a bowl, discarding leaves.
Return tea to saucepan. Add honey, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until honey dissolves.
Add fruit to the simmering syrup. Reduce heat to low and poach for 5-10 minutes until fruit is tender but not mushy.
Remove from heat. Let fruit cool in syrup for 10 minutes. Serve warm or chilled, with syrup spooned over.
Tips
Use firm fruits like pears or apples for best texture; berries need less poaching time.
Store leftover fruit and syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
