Ingredients
2 cups fresh grapefruit juice (from about 3 large grapefruits)
1 cup water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon grapefruit zest (optional)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
Stir in grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and grapefruit zest (if using) into the cooled syrup.
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Transfer the sorbet to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes with a fork until firm, about 3-4 hours.
Tips
For a smoother texture, strain the grapefruit juice before mixing.
Serve with fresh mint leaves or a slice of grapefruit.
