Ingredients
1/2 cup white sesame seeds
1 tablespoon sea salt
Instructions
Place the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat. Toast, stirring constantly, until they become fragrant and lightly golden, about 3-5 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.
Transfer the toasted sesame seeds to a mortar and pestle or a small food processor. Add the sea salt.
Grind the mixture with a grinding motion until the sesame seeds are mostly crushed but still have some texture. Alternatively, pulse in the food processor a few times.
Let the gomashio cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Tips
Store in a cool, dark place for up to a month.
Use black sesame seeds for a different flavor and color.
