Ingredients
- 1 (1-inch thick) ham steak (about 1.5 lbs)
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
Instructions
- Pat ham steak dry with paper towels. Score the fat edge in a few places to prevent curling.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and cloves (if using) to form a paste.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ham steak and cook 3-4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Spread glaze mixture over the top of the ham steak. Cover and cook 5 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices.
- Uncover and cook 2-3 more minutes until glaze is sticky and caramelized. Serve with pan juices spooned over top.
Tips
- Leftover ham steak can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
- Pair with roasted vegetables or a side salad for a complete meal.
