Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread (about 1 lb)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Slice the bread in half lengthwise, then cut each half crosswise into 4 pieces (or leave whole).
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Place bread pieces on a baking sheet, buttered side up. If using, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and butter is melted. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
- Serve warm.
Tips
- Use fresh garlic for best flavor; avoid garlic powder.
- For a softer bread, wrap in foil before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat in oven.
