Ingredients
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Add cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Use a pastry blender or your fingertips to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized butter pieces.
Spread the crumble topping evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and fragrant.
Let cool completely on the baking sheet. The topping will crisp up as it cools.
Use immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Tips
For a nutty variation, add 1/4 cup chopped almonds or pecans with the oats.
This crumble topping can be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw before using.
