Ingredients
4 large apples (such as Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp), chilled
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
Instructions
Wash the apples thoroughly. If desired, peel them (though leaving the skin on adds nutrients and flavor). Core the apples and cut them into quarters.
If using a juicer, feed the apple pieces through the juicer according to the manufacturer's instructions. Collect the juice in a pitcher.
If using a blender, add the apple pieces to the blender and blend until smooth. Place a fine-mesh strainer or nut milk bag over a bowl and pour the blended apples into it. Press or squeeze to extract as much juice as possible.
Stir in lemon juice if using, to help preserve the color. Serve immediately over ice, or refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Stir before serving as separation is natural.
Tips
For best flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples.
Store leftover juice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days; shake before drinking.
The pulp can be saved and used in smoothies, baked goods, or compost.
