Ingredients
8 slices thick bread (like Texas toast or brioche)
3 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for cooking
Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
Cut each slice of bread into 3 strips, about 1 inch wide.
In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon butter.
Dip each bread strip into the egg mixture, turning to coat evenly, and let excess drip off.
Place the coated strips in the hot skillet, working in batches if needed. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
Repeat with remaining butter and bread strips. Serve immediately with maple syrup for dipping.
Tips
For extra crispiness, use day-old bread.
Keep cooked sticks warm in a 200°F oven while cooking remaining batches.
Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries for a variation.
