  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F. Line a 20cm (8-inch) square baking tin with parchment paper.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter, golden syrup, and brown sugar over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in rolled oats until fully coated.
  4. Press mixture evenly into the prepared tin using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown at the edges but still soft in the centre.
  6. Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then score into 12 bars while still warm. Cool completely before removing from tin.
