Ingredients
- 125g unsalted butter
- 125g golden syrup
- 75g light brown sugar
- 250g rolled oats
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F. Line a 20cm (8-inch) square baking tin with parchment paper.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter, golden syrup, and brown sugar over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in rolled oats until fully coated.
- Press mixture evenly into the prepared tin using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown at the edges but still soft in the centre.
- Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then score into 12 bars while still warm. Cool completely before removing from tin.
Tips
- For extra crunch, add 50g chopped nuts or seeds with the oats.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- If you don't have golden syrup, use honey or corn syrup, but the flavour will differ.
