- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate fish chunks with turmeric and salt; set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dried red chilies; let them splutter.
- Add onion and sauté until golden brown. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies; cook for 2 minutes.
- Add ground coriander, ground cumin, and red chili powder; stir for 30 seconds.
- Add tomato puree and cook until oil separates, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in coconut milk and water; bring to a simmer. Add tamarind paste and stir.
- Gently add fish chunks to the curry; cook for 8-10 minutes until fish is cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or bread.
