Ingredients
- 6 large eggs, separated

Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar until thick and pale, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cream, bourbon (if using), vanilla, nutmeg, and salt until combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with remaining 1/4 cup sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg whites into the yolk mixture until just combined.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve cold, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon and add an extra 1/2 cup milk.
