Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
8 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 slices red onion
4 tbsp ketchup
4 tbsp mustard
4 tbsp mayonnaise
4 large russet potatoes
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F. Wash and cut potatoes into thin fries. Toss with oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Spread on baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Divide ground beef into 8 equal portions and shape into thin patties, slightly larger than buns. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Toast buns on the griddle until lightly golden.
Assemble burgers: spread mayonnaise on bottom bun, then lettuce, tomato, onion. Stack two cheese patties, then ketchup and mustard on top bun. Close burger.
Serve hot with fries.
Tips
For extra flavor, add pickles or bacon.
Fries can be seasoned with paprika or cayenne for a kick.
Leftover fries can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
