Ingredients
1 (8-ounce) bag barbecue-flavored potato chips
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
Place the barbecue chips in a large resealable plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you have coarse crumbs (some larger pieces are fine).
In a small bowl, combine the crushed chips with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne if using. Toss until evenly coated.
Spread the mixture on a plate and let it air-dry for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the coating to set.
Sprinkle over salads just before serving for maximum crunch.
Tips
Store any leftover topping in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
This topping also works great on baked potatoes, mac and cheese, or as a crust for chicken or fish.
For a milder flavor, use regular potato chips and add a bit of barbecue seasoning.
