Ingredients
3 cups day-old bread, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, toss bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Spread bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
If using Parmesan, sprinkle over croutons during the last 2 minutes of baking.
Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Tips
Use stale or day-old bread for best results; fresh bread may not get as crispy.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
For extra flavor, add dried herbs like oregano or thyme with the seasonings.
