Ingredients
1 shot espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, or 1 tea bag (black, chai, or green)
1 cup whole milk (or milk of choice)
1 to 2 teaspoons sugar or sweetener (optional)
Cocoa powder or cinnamon for garnish (optional)
Instructions
If making a coffee latte, brew 1 shot of espresso or 1/2 cup strong coffee. If making a tea latte, steep the tea bag in 1/4 cup hot water for 3-5 minutes, then remove the bag.
In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming, but not boiling. Alternatively, froth the milk using a milk frother or whisk vigorously until foamy.
Pour the hot coffee or concentrated tea into a mug. Add sugar or sweetener if desired and stir to dissolve.
Pour the steamed milk over the coffee or tea, holding back the foam with a spoon. Spoon the foam on top.
Garnish with a dusting of cocoa powder or cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately.
Tips
For a dairy-free latte, use oat, almond, or soy milk. Oat milk froths particularly well.
Adjust the strength by using more or less coffee/tea concentrate.
For an iced latte, cool the coffee/tea and milk, then pour over ice.
