Ingredients
2 tablespoons (10g) finely ground espresso coffee
1 cup (240ml) water
1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk (for latte)
Sugar to taste
Instructions
For coffee: Bring water to a boil in a kettle or pot. Place ground coffee in a French press or drip coffee maker. Pour hot water over grounds, stir, and let steep for 4 minutes. Press plunger down slowly (if using French press) or let drip complete.
For latte: Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming (do not boil). Froth milk using a frother, whisk, or by shaking in a jar until foamy.
Prepare espresso: If using an espresso machine, brew 2 shots (about 2 ounces) of espresso. Alternatively, make strong coffee using 2 tablespoons grounds and 1/4 cup water.
Pour hot coffee or espresso into a mug. For latte, slowly pour frothed milk over the coffee, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon foam on top.
Add sugar to taste and stir.
Tips
For a stronger coffee, use 3 tablespoons grounds per cup.
For a dairy-free latte, substitute with oat or almond milk.
Store leftover coffee in the fridge for iced coffee later.
