2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 (28-ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, crushed by hand
1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 fresh basil leaves, torn
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil, and oregano. Stir to combine.
Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens slightly, about 20-30 minutes.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Remove basil leaves if desired.
