Ingredients
3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large bowl, mix remaining granulated sugar, egg, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
Punch down dough. On a floured surface, roll into a 12x18-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over dough. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over butter.
Tightly roll dough from the long side. Cut into 12 equal slices. Place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
For frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Spread over warm rolls.
