1 shot (1 oz) espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup (optional)
Whipped cream for topping (optional)
Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Brew a shot of espresso or prepare 1/2 cup of strong coffee.
Pour the chocolate milk into a microwave-safe mug and heat for 1-2 minutes until hot but not boiling. Alternatively, heat on the stovetop over medium heat.
Stir in the chocolate syrup if desired for extra sweetness.
Pour the hot chocolate milk into a serving mug.
Slowly pour the espresso or coffee over the back of a spoon into the mug to create layers.
Top with whipped cream and garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings if desired. Serve immediately.
Tips
For a cold version, use cold chocolate milk and chilled coffee over ice.
Adjust sweetness by using dark chocolate milk or adding more syrup.
Froth the chocolate milk with a milk frother for a creamier texture.
