Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
Melt butter in a large microwave-safe bowl (about 30-45 seconds). Stir in sugar until combined.
Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Cool completely in pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Tips
For extra fudgy brownies, reduce flour to 1/3 cup and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert.
