Ingredients
1 pound fresh strawberries (about 24), with leaves intact
8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
2 teaspoons coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for shine)
Instructions
Wash strawberries gently and pat completely dry with paper towels. Any moisture will cause the chocolate to seize.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
Place chopped chocolate and coconut oil (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler.
Hold a strawberry by the stem or leaves and dip into the melted chocolate, twisting slightly to coat evenly. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
Place dipped strawberry on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining strawberries.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until chocolate is set. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Tips
Use high-quality chocolate for best flavor and texture.
To decorate, drizzle with white chocolate or sprinkle with crushed nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt before the chocolate sets.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For best texture, serve within 24 hours.
